Terms for payment and refunds
Registration:
Your spot in a class is reserved only after registration is complete and full payment made.
Payment:
All prices in Canadian Funds.
Payment accepted by e-transfer. Details will be provided upon registration.
All courses must be paid in full upon the date of registration.
Any course subject to discount, promotion or price incentive must be paid in full upon the date of registration.
Cancellations & Refunds:
Cancellations by Nipissing Sailing Academy
If we need to cancel an entire course due to weather concerns, technical issues or any other reason, Nipissing Sailing Academy will issue a full refund of the course fee paid. Alternatively, you may reschedule to a later class in the summer or leave a credit on your account for future use. Our maximum liability for any course is the amount paid by the customer. No other claims beyond the course fee can be made.
If we need to cancel a partial course once it has started, due to unforeseen circumstances, a pro-rated refund will be issued or an alternative mutually agreed upon date to complete the course may be arranged.
Cancellations by Students:
For the Sail Canada Basic Cruising Course a full refund, (minus $100 if course materials have been issued or minus a $50 cancellation fee if no course materials have been issued) is available if cancelled more than 30 days before the start date.
If cancelling within 30 days, or after the course starts, the course fee is non-refundable. However, if a replacement is found a $100 administration fee will apply, and any remaining balance will be refunded.
Students wishing to re-register for the same course in the future will receive any cancellation fee paid as a discount on the full course fee.
For the Introduction to Sailing Course a full refund is available if cancelled more than 24 hours before the start date.
The following course cancellations are not eligible for any refund:
Introduction to Sailing courses cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled start date. A credit towards a future sailing date may be issued.
Additional Terms:
Courses are transferable to another individual you choose.
Trip cancellation insurance may cover lost cancelled courses. Iām not sure if this is a thing? You may want to check with your insurance provider.
Missed a Sailing Class?
For Basic Cruising, all sessions on the water must be attended to achieve certification.
Arrange for availability on a future course to complete the missed class or arrange a 4-hour private make-up class for a $100 fee. Compassionate reasons for missing a class will be considered on an individual basis. I understand some circumstances are beyond your control. Life happens!
If you Missed the Exam or Wish to Rewrite the Exam
Any unsuccessful exam can be rewritten after two weeks.
No Sail Canada certification can be issued without the written exam. Arrange to schedule an alternate date to rewrite the exam.
No cost for Basic Basic Cruising rewrites.
Terms, conditions and fees may change at any time without notice.
